Near fine in a very good dust jacket. Bound in green ribbed cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine and upper board titles. Negligible extremity bumping. A couple of pen tick marks in introductory material. Jacket has browning to spine with moderate liquid spattering, else fine with shallow edge wear.

Dr. Kerlin's last and most complete anthology and study of African American verse in the first half of the 20th century. Includes indexes, information of the poets, numerous photographic portraits, etc. A resource of enduring value.
