A few shallow extremity chips, leather has thin peeling to surface in a few areas. Marbled paper sides, marbled endpapers, and all textblock edges marbled. Gilt ornaments and titling to spine.

Handsomely bound history of the American Revolutionary War, filled with 1100 illustrations, maps, and decorations from wood engravings by Lossing and William Barritt, mostly from original sketches by Lossing.

Color frontispiece in volume I, illustrated frontispieces and title page precede the typographical title page in volume II.
