The Sovereignty of the States: An Oration
New York and Washington: The Neale Publishing Company, 1910. First edition. Cloth over boards. Duodecimo. [viii], 143 pages.
An "Address delivered to the survivors of the Eighth Virginia Regiment, while they were gathered about the graves of their fallen comrades, on the battle-ground of Manassas, July 21, 1910."
Neale's address at Manassas surveys American history to defend the "States' rights" cause of the Confederacy. Additionally, he decries the "War of Reconstruction," and concludes with what is essentially a call for the South to rise again.
