Biography of George Washington in two large leather-bound volumes. Originally issued in 46 parts. Printed in double columns, with engraved plates with tissue guards, engraved title pages, and an 8 page facsimile of Thomas Jefferson's draft of the Declaration of Independence. An impressive set.

Bound in leather over boards with gilt-stamped titles on black spine labels, marbled endpapers. Moderate overall wear, endpapers show some separation along inner hinges but boards holding securely. Minor foxing and stains scattered inside, including some plates. Prior owner bookplate on preliminary blank leaf in each volume. Very good overall.
