Blood Meridian or the Evening Redness in the West
New York: The Modern Library, (2001). First edition thus. Hardcover. Octavo. [xx], 337 pages.
The Modern Library first edition of McCarthy's masterpiece. Blood Meridian is set in the American Southwest just after the Mexican War, and based on actual historical events. McCarthy brings some unforgettable characters to life--including the landscape itself.
Blood Meridian is McCarthy's only historical novel, which critics now acknowledge as one of the greatest works in 20th century American literature--a status which seems likely to stand, at this point.
Very good in a very good dust jacket. Book has been read, and has a small diagonal crease at top fore corner of title page. Jacket has a few extremity wrinkles and light abrasions. Still a very fresh, appealing copy.
