The Hitchcock Edition of the Sporting Works of Somerville and Ross (signed by Somerville)

New York: The Derrydale Press, 1927. Limited edition, #288 of 500 sets. Illustrated by E. Œ. Somerville. Cloth over boards. Octavos. Uniformly bound in green cloth over boards with black leather spine labels stamped in gilt. Top edges gilt. All 7 volumes in very good or better condition, with a few chips to spine labels, a few scuffs to bindings, but all hinges sound, interiors clean. An impressive edition.

"Somerville and Ross" was the joint pen name of the female writing team of Edith Anna Œnone Somerville and Violet Florence Martin. This special edition of their foxhunting stories in 7 volumes is named for the Hitchcock family of New York and South Carolina, who were very prominent in American equestrian sports.

This Hitchcock Edition was published by Derrydale and was limited to 500 sets. This is set #288 and is signed by Somerville on the half title of volume I.
