Biography of Lafayette on the occasion of his grand tour of America in 1824-1825. Gen. Ducoudray Holstein, then living in America, had been an officer in the French Army under Napoleon and was a friend of Lafayette's.
Bound in green leather over boards with marbled paper sides and endpapers, five raised bands on spine. Top edge gilt, gilt-stamped spine titles and ornaments. Moderate scattered foxing to text. Binding is sound. Attractive prior bookplate on front pastedown. A very handsome copy of this uncommon volume.
