Le Citoyen d'une République: Conférence faite à la Sorbonne, 23 Avril 1910 (Citizenship in a Republic)
Paris: Librairie Hachette et Cie, 1910. First edition. Wrappers. Duodecimo. 31 pages. Good. Bound in printed yellow paper covers with top fore corner of front cover lower fore corner of back cover chipped. The booklet appears to have been bent horizontally from spine about a third of the way up from bottom edge, which resulted in a clean tear affecting the rear cover and final three leaves. Some light soil and other minor edge wear.
This is the first separate printing of Theodore Roosevelt's address at the Sorbonne on April 23, 1910, now popularly known as the "Man in the Arena" speech.
Printed in Paris just days after its delivery. There is a tissue-guarded frontispiece portrait of Roosevelt. Text is in French.
A handsome copy of this important appearance of Roosevelt's most iconic speech. Very scarce.
