San Francisco African American Community Loyalty Program

Black and Brown Stamp Album

[San Francisco]: [Black & Brown Trading Stamp Corporation], [c.1970]. Advertising illustrations. Stapled wraps. Oblong sixteenmo. [48 unnumbered pages].

Scarce African American community loyalty stamp album from the San Francisco area. Participating merchants in the community would give stamps with purchases. These stamps would then be pasted into one of these booklets and, when full, could be redeemed for credit against purchases from the community merchants.

This booklet is partially filled with stamps. The stamps feature James Brown, as he apparently put up much of the money to start the Black & Brown Trading Stamp Corporation. An interesting ephemeral bit of San Francisco Black Americana.

Printed paper covers with minor edge wear, age toning inside, and some mild rippling to covers. Slight moisture transfer to inside front cover, no doubt from facing page of stamps being moistened when pasted down. Very good overall.
