A.C.L.U. Pamphlet Invoking Fascism in Labor Struggles

"It Happens Here": Just a few incidents within the last year to show how free speech is gagged and the rights of labor are attacked, and how methods which look a good deal like European Fascism are used here

New York: American Civil Liberties Union, 1936. One black and white photo illustration. Stapled wraps. Octavo. 20 pages.

This pamphlet deals with the central struggle between capital and labor in the United States, and the points at which labor's rights to peaceful agitation had recently been attacked. Compiled and printed in 1936, as Fascism seemed to consume Europe, the A.C.L.U. here equates the suppression of the labor movement and its political allies with Fascism.

The A.C.L.U. was founded in 1920. When this pamphlet was issued 16 years later several of the founders are still listed as officers of the organization. Among the National Committee members listed inside front cover are Clarence Darrow and John Dos Passos.

Uncommon, with fewer than 20 located in OCLC.

Printed self-wrappers with a bit of foxing to front cover edges. Top fore corner crease to last 5 pages. Very good to near fine overall.
