Manuscript Warrant, Signed, Requesting the Great Seal of the Province of Pennsylvania be Affixed to a Land Patent in Philadelphia

[Philadelphia?]: [Province of Pennsylvania], 1734. Single sheet, 7 5/8" x 12 1/4"

A Proprietary warrant requiring Thomas Griffitts, Esq., Deputy Keeper of the Great Seal, to affix the Seal to a land patent for 200 acres of land in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The warrant is written out by hand and signed by Thomas Penn, son of William Penn. Paper-covered red wax seal at left margin.

The warrant is dated "This 15th day of March, Anno Dom 1733/4." The year, for legal matters, began on March 25th in this period, making the legal year 1733 and the calendar year 1734, hence the odd date.

Fine. Mild age toning, three old fold creases across quarters of the short dimension.
