Manuscript Warrant, Signed, Requesting the Great Seal of the Province of Pennsylvania be Affixed to a Land Patent in Philadelphia

[Philadelphia?]: [Province of Pennsylvania], 1734. Single sheet, 7 5/8" x 12 1/4" Fine. Mild age toning, three old fold creases across quarters of the short dimension.

A Proprietary warrant requiring Thomas Griffitts, Esq., Deputy Keeper of the Great Seal, to affix the Seal to a land patent for 200 acres of land in Chester County, Pennsylvania. The warrant is written out by hand and signed by Thomas Penn, son of William Penn. Paper-covered red wax seal at left margin.

The warrant is dated "This 15th day of March, Anno Dom 1733/4." The year, for legal matters, began on March 25th in this period, making the legal year 1733 and the calendar year 1734, hence the odd date.
