(New York): Cowles, (1968). First printing. Black and white photographic portrait on mass card, black and white photographs in book. 8 1/2" x 11" letter paper, 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" cards. Hardcover. Octavo. 272 pages.

A small lot of items related to Robert F. Kennedy's 1968 Presidential campaign and its tragic end in his assassination.

Two sisters in Florida wrote to Kennedy's campaign headquarters in Washington, DC on March 17, 1968, volunteering to help with the campaign in Miami and Dade County. A typed copy of this letter is included here.

Kennedy's response is typed on "Kennedy for President Headquarters" letterhead, addressed to the "Misses Gagnon," and signed by Kennedy in black ink. The original mailing envelope is included.

Also included is a smaller envelope, addressed by hand to one of the sisters and franked by Ethel Kennedy at top right corner. The front of this envelope has been scribbled upon by a child using a blue felt-tipped pen. The back of the envelope has black mourning trim, and contains a black-bordered memorial card with Robert F. Kennedy's portrait on one side and quotes on the other, and a black-bordered notecard with a printed message of thanks from Ethel Kennedy.

Lastly, a very good copy of the book "Assassination: Robert F. Kennedy - 1925-1968," by the editors of the United Press International and Cowles is included as well.

A poignant group of items indeed.

Kennedy letter has two original fold creases. The envelope is mildly browned. The mourning card envelope has been scribbled on the front by a child but the contents are fine. The book is near fine in a near fine dust jacket.
