Letter to TIME Magazine (Signed)
[San Francisco]: Soheyl Dahi/Sore Dove Press, 2014. Limited edition, one of 30 copies. Portfolio. 10 1/4" x 12" Hardcover portfolio of glossy red paper over boards, with upper board titled in black, lower board has "Sore Dove Press" in black at bottom edge. Fine condition.
Here is Ferlinghetti's scathing 1962 letter to TIME in defense of Jack Kerouac and his then-latest-book "Big Sur." TIME had reviewed the book in what Ferlinghetti here calls a "...snide, sneering, condescending, semi-literate, semi-dishonest, spiteful attack..." And that's just his opening sentence.
This production is by Soheyl Dahi and his Sore Dove Press in 2014 in honor of Ferlinghetti's 95th birthday. The reprinted letter is on the right side of the portfolio interior, with a nice 8" x 10" black and white photograph of Ferlinghetti mounted on the left. The edition was 30 copies, printed by Bill Roberts of Bottle of Smoke Press. This copy is not numbered, but is inscribed to Bill Roberts from Ferlinghetti, with his full signature beneath.
