Uncommon book of speeches Roosevelt gave while traveling after he left the presidency in 1909. Most notably, this is the first book appearance of "Citizenship in a Republic"-- Roosevelt's deservedly famous 'man in the arena' speech. This address was delivered by invitation at the Sorbonne on April 23, 1910. The Introduction by Abbott contains interesting information on the circumstances and repercussions of this and other speeches Mr. Roosevelt delivered during his travels. Beautiful copy of a surprisingly uncommon book.
