Pioneering graphic novel capturing the crisis of capitalism in the early 20th century. The story is the tragic tale of a girl from the lower classes told entirely through pictures. Nückel, an artist working in Munich in the early 20th century, was a contemporary and an inspiration to Lynd Ward. Nückel's preferred medium was the leadcut, and his mastery of this medium is clearly evident in this work. Scarce in any sort of dust jacket.
