New York: Charles B. Richardson, 1863. Wrappers. Octavo. 16 pages. Very Good. In original wraps, with a smudge at lower edge of front cover, three tissue repaired chips to edges of wrappers. Small stamp near top fore corner of front cover: "New York State Library," along with another small stamp along spine of rear cover: "Withdrawn NYSLibrary."
Rare Civil War pamphlet by a pro-Union frenchman. Laboulaye argues that the North MUST fight to preserve the Union at all cost, and scolds Europe--particularly England--for appearing indecisive as to which side they support. Laboulaye later became the promoter of that iconic monument of friendship between France and the United States, the Statue of Liberty. SABIN 38446.
