S.l. S.n., 1936. Ephemera. 3.5 x 5.5 inches. Fine. A few light rubs around card edges.
This postcard was carried on board the Hindenburg on her inaugural flight from Germany to Lakehurst, New Jersey in May, 1936. It was a souvenir created by Veedol Motor Oil of Pennsylvania when the company mailed these postcards from Hamburg, Germany to its dealers in the USA. The card has German postage and is postmarked Hamburg on April 25, 1936. The Hindenburg departed Frankfurt on May 6 and landed at Lakehurst on May 9, 1936, which is the date of the domestic postmark. The tragic crash occured one year later. Uncommon.
