All four edges of the back side have a tape border done at an early date, presumably for protection from edge tears.
Here is the iconic depiction of the theatre of action for J. R. R. Tolkien's classic, "The Lord of the Rings." Pauline Baynes created this map based on Tolkien's own working drawings and notes made while writing the book.
The map features a cartouche with scale in miles, ten circular inset illustrations depicting important locations, rows of characters from the story along top and bottom borders.
