Condon's satirical novel about a U.S. soldier in the Korean War who was brainwashed, indoctrinated, and then released by Communist forces to become their mind-controlled assassin. The basis for the Oscar-nominated 1962 political thriller of the same name, directed by John Frankenheimer.
