An amazing piece of ephemera featuring Frederick Douglass and other big names in 19th century American civil rights activism. The front of the ticket lists the Parker Fraternity's lecture committee: John C. Haynes, Sarah B. Otis, and John S. Rogers. The back lists the dates and speakers for ten consecutive Tuesday evening lectures from October 11 to December 20, 1870. Speakers include Frederick Douglass, Ralph Waldo Emerson, Wendell Phillips, David R. Locke (aka "Petroleum V. Nasby"), Anna E. Dickinson (first woman to address Congress, 1864), and others.
Near fine condition with just a few nicks to edges, a folded corner, and several pin holes around edges.
