Bound in red cloth over boards with gilt-stamped title to upper board. Exterior binding shows light soil, some extremity wear, and a bit of fading to spine. Prior owner name pencilled on front free endpaper and above author's inscription. Hinges sound, interior clean. Very good in custom 4 mil Mylar jacket.

Excellent memoir of a young Maryland Confederate officer who participated in many battles and was wounded three times. Booth served as a staff officer for George H. Steuart and Bradley Johnson and in the 1st Maryland Cavalry. Contains much information both on and behind the lines. Published for private circulation among friends and comrades, which prevented wide circulation of this work originally.

This copy is inscribed and signed by Booth on a preliminary blank leaf.
