The Evolution of the Cowboy [Sweetheart of the Rodeo]
Monterey: Jo Mora Publications, 1933. Colored poster. Single sheet. 24 3/8" x 32". Loosely shrink-wrapped to acid-free foam board. Good, Colors remain bright and crisp. There are a few closed edge tears of up to 2" length, and other edge wear. Still an impressive display piece.
One of Mora's most iconic cartes. It was dedicated to the California Rodeo of Salinas.
This is the second variation of this particular poster, with black silhouettes of cowboys, horses, and chuckwagons on a bright yellow background. Background of the bucking horse at lower third center of the poster is red, as called for.
