Novel about an Old West gunfighter with terminal cancer, deciding how to wrap up his life. The book was made into the film of the same name starring John Wayne, Lauren Bacall and Jimmy Stewart.
John Wayne died of cancer just two years later, ironically making this portrayal of a cancer-stricken gunfighter the last film role of the Duke's extensive career.
