Some fading or staining to lower quadrant of upper board. There is a 1.25" x .75" area where a layer of paper pulled from a blank part of the dedication page resulting from adhesion to verso of half title. Hinges sound, interior clean.

Scarce World War I aerial unit history. Formed at Kelly Field, Texas in late December, 1917, the 174th "Black Cat" Aero Squadron then trained in England before arriving in France on October 28, 1918. The Squadron provided the cadre for the 2nd Artillery Aerial Observation School at the Souge training range near Bordeaux, France. In addition to history of the unit this volume contains cartoons, poems, songs and rosters with rank, serial number, and address information. OCLC locates just 3 copies in institutions.
