Bound in dark green cloth over bevelled boards with decorative titling stamped in gilt on spine an upper board, dark brown endpapers, all edges gilt. Spine somewhat darkened, a few light stains to upper board. Front hinge a bit tender. Shallow chipping along spine ends, one signature slightly pulled. Prior owner bookplate at top of front pastedown.
Mrs. Browning was nearly as popular in America as she was in her native Britain during her lifetime. This is a handsome first American edition of this posthumous collection, illustrated with 13 drawings by Hennessy and Thwaites.
