     Story of Frank Stringfellow, Confederate spy of the Fourth Virginia Cavalry who was present at or near most of the great battles fought by the Army of Northern Virginia. Largely based on Stringfellow's own recollections. He was commissioned a chaplain in the U.S. Army during the Spanish American War. NEVINS, ET AL, II, p. 42. Bound in gray cloth over boards with spine titled in black. Prior owner name on front free endpaper, minor extremity wear. Jacket has a 1" x 1.5" chip at head of spine, and a few minor extremity rubs.

     General Willoughby was MacArthur's Chief of Intelligence, and here gives a full account of what he learned about Soviet master-spy Richard Sorge, his ring of spies that stretched from Japan to the United States and the European capitals, and its ability to not only report but also actually influence the actions of Western governments. Bound in black cloth over boards with gilt-stamped spine, endpaper illustrations. Faint browning to endpapers, a slight ripple to spine, some kind of schedule (tour?) taped to recto of rear free endpaper. Jacket has some shallow edge chips and rubs.
